  black Preview

  okay so this is verry stupid when i’ve worked on project for a while most of the “oldest” clips/first put in to the timeline got black in the preview.
  Ive tried installing an older verision of quicktime and made several other things but it don’t work!

  What codec do the files that go black use? I’m guessing it’s a codec that Vegas Pro doesn’t support well. You can use a free tool like MediaInfo to get the codec information and post it here.

  I am doing a Team fortress 2 Video witch to get the maximum quality i use tga files and then compress them into Avi with virtual dub

  That still doesn’t answer the question. Which codec do you use in VirtualDub to compress them? Like I said, I’m guessing the codec you are using in the AVI file is what’s causing the problem.

  Yeah, but what codec do you use? When you enter Ctrl-p, the “Select video compression” window appears. You have to make a choice. Which one do you choose?

  I use Virtualdub all the time and prefer using lossless codecs such as MagicYUV, UT Video or Lagarith. You can also use codecs such as Cineform or Canopus that will work well in Vegas. Black previews have always been somewhat of a problem in Vegas when using avi files. I still get them on occasion. If you do, the best procedure is to simply save your project file, close it, and then re-open. Your “black events” should now display properly. One final suggestion. Before you render, ALWAYS save your project, close the project file, shut down Vegas and then re-open Vegas and your project file, especially if you are using avi files.

  I would recommend that you download MediaInfo and run it against your AVI file. It will tell you what codec is inside of it. Post that information here in text mode.
