No video/audio in Preview unless clip is in time line

Correction : I am getting audio; just no video.

Preview does not display anything unless I place clip in the timeline.

That’s the way Vegas is supposed to work. To preview without placing it on the timeline, open it in Trimmer. If that’s not the problem, then post a screen shot of your timeline.

ok thanks. What I see now is that if the trimmer is open, it is previewed there, but if I close the trimmer, then the clip auto previews in the preview window. I’m guessing that in the past, I always had the trimmer closed when I was browsing clips in the explorer.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback it helped.
