Can’t install Vegas Pro 13 on fresh Windows 10
Hello,
I just install Windows 10, and when im trying to install Vegas Pro 13 it says:
How can i fix this?

Have you tried rebooting your system? If not, you should try that. If you have rebooted, and are still getting the message, you should report it to Sony Technical Support.

…and once you’ve rebooted. Try downloading the latest version of Vegas Pro 13.0 because you are installing Build 290 and the latest build is 453. It may even be that build 290 pre-dates Windows 10 support! Always install the latest build.

Like Bob and John said. Also after rebooting, go to Start>settings> “update&security” and make sure any and all updates have been completed there. Verify that your GPU driver does not have Windows10 driver, or is up to the latest version. If there are any update installs make sure to reboot before attempting Vegas install again.

Aaron, I’m confused by:

I’m guessing that is a typo, but, if not, perhaps you could amplify what you mean. It sounds like a driver should NOT be a Win 10 driver. That sounds odd to me.

I download latest version of Vegas Pro and also install drivers update. Now it works fine,

Bob. That was clearly a typo. Sorry about that. On my system certain driver manufacturers published Win10 upgrades, and others simply changed the text on their site from Win8.1 support to include Win10.
The Default Win10 drivers should work very well in most cases, even on older systems. In all the insider preview builds tested, I only saw certain things like card readers, and special laptop buttons not supported but the defaults.

You bring up a really good point Danny. People who did not build their own computer but rather purchased a pre-built from an OEM like Lenovo, HP, Dell, etc. should NOT upgrade to Windows 10 without contacting their equipment manufacturer first to make sure that all of the required drivers are available; especially really old computers where your OEM might not even care about providing drivers anymore.
I had a really bad experience with Dell (who I would never buy a computer from again). I upgraded from Windows 98/Me that came with the computer to Windows XP and Dell refused to take any support calls from me because the computer did not have the original operating system that they provided even though I downloaded all of the XP drivers from Dell’s web site. So I would check with your provider and make sure you will still be supported with Windows 10 if you care about things like support (that’s the dirty little secret that Microsoft doesn’t tell you). Another reason why I moved to Mac. 😉
