  • Adding a tiff graphic with a transparent BG

Posted by Rob Lindsay on April 29, 2015 at 7:06 pm

The background turns black on the timeline. I want the BG to be transparent as it is in Photoshop, so the letters float over the scene in the lower track.

Is there a fix for this?

    Many thanks!

I thought only PNGs could provide a ALPHA channel in Vegas. Ok, right click on the TIFF and select PREMULTIPLIED.

    TIFF eh? Didn’t know.

I don’t recall exactly but the trick is to export the alpha from photoshop. It will need to be a 32 bit version of the tiff.

Russ, I researched the PS options. It’s a bit fraught. I’d suggest, if Rob is still reading this, would be to go back and either try and save as PNG with ALPHA in place, OR if layered, try a straight layered Photoshop PS file. This can be imported as a layered option in separate Vegas Tracks!

Yes Grazzie you are quite correct png would be a better choice unless you need the extra info embedded in the tiff.

[Russ Froze] ” . . . unless you need the extra info embedded in the tiff.”

Would that be resolution “info” or the layers “info”? If it was layers then the PS layered ting would be worth exploring.

    Interesting,

No, as I remember the settings are adjusted in the export window.
