I have been streaming from my Canon HV20 to my computer into Vegas as I have been recording on my HV20. My HV20 bit the dust, so I now have a new HFG20. Unfortunately, it appears that firewire is out of vogue with any one except Vegas…

Is there another software that would allow streaming using another method, like HDMI? OTOH, does the HFG20 even allow streaming while recording?

Guess I’m heading to a new workflow. Any suggestions appreciated.

    Thank you,

[Dave Turnidge] “OTOH, does the HFG20 even allow streaming while recording?”

That should be your first question because if your camera doesn’t output live video to it’s HDMI port then there is no solution.

The Blackmagic Design Intensity Extreme can do it on a Mac. The AJA KONA cards do something similar and they claim to support Vegas Pro on a PC.

Here is someone doing exactly what you want to do on a Mac:

Blackmagic makes the Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 for the PC but it only supports certain x58 based motherboards and doesn’t support Dell computers so I would be careful before you buy it.

There are Blackmagic and AJA forum links at the top of this forum here on the COW. I would ask over there.
