Serious Rendering Problem-Emergency
I’m trying to render an MPEG-2 file for a DVD. Render extremely slow then stalls at about half way through: will not cancel; freezes V13. I have to restart computer. Below are my specs. Please help. Up against deadlines. (FYI I recently had computer overhauled. Also just got V13)
My specs:
HP Pavillion Elite running Windows 7 Home Edition with Intel Core I-7 CPU 950@3.07 GHZ
8 GIGS RAM
64 Bit OS

You are still leaving out important details that we need
to really assist you. But on a fast solution note: render
to a different format first, then drop it on the timeline
and then render your MPEG-2…Steve Rhoden (Cow Leader)

Ive already tried that attempting to render an .avi. Same problem.
What other details do you need from me?

Is the CPU overheating? Is this a laptop?

Take the side off your tower, and if possible place a small fan as close to your ‘open’ computer as possible. The fan should be blowing AWAY from the computer (sucking hot air away). Keep the fan running while you’re rendering.
ALSO- it’s probably best to check if the cooling fan on top of your CPU is actually working. I’ve seen dead fans before, and once where the power connector for the fan was not plugged into the motherboard. A poor performing CPU fan will allow the CPU, under load, to get too hot. If the entire computer locks up, this is the first place i’d look.
ALSO- it’s probably best to blow the dust our of the computer first (or gently vacuum the insides). Unplug the power cord before doing this.

My CPU is not overheating. I cannot render anything more than 2 minutes in length. The problem is the same with rendering other file formats than MPEG.

1) Disable GPU acceleration under video preferences
2) Download and install SVP12. Vegas 13 projects should open in Vegas 12 (it does for me), and then try rendering.
My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 12 (x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6
