  • Is It Faster to Burn Blu ray Directly Through Vegas 12

Posted by Debbie King on December 13, 2014 at 9:39 pm

    Hi Everyone:

I’m not understanding it, but my project took 15 hours to render yesterday, but before, even using the same settings, it took 6 hours. Then it took 1 hour to burn to Blu ray. Would it be faster if I burned directly through Vegas 12?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    Debbie

No. The length of time to burn is directly related to the size of your video and the speed of your burner. Burning from within Vegas Pro or outside of it, those parameters are not going to change.

    Hi John:

Thanks! One could only hope. My Blu ray burner is 6x. Maybe that may help. I’ll try it direct.

    Many thanks,

    Debbie

If I recall, you have a slightly underpowered PC for video editing. The difference in render times may be because your PC resources have changed. Before you start a long render – reboot. Many programs that you may run on your PC eat resources that Vegas would like to have. For example, if you run any Microsoft Office program, the program loads part of Office into RAM and it stays there until you reboot. They do this to give the appearance of fast loading. Browsers are also huge memory hogs that don’t completely remove themselves from RAM until you reboot.

    Thank you Steve:

I will definitely reboot. It’s a big project, but it has taken less time to render in the past.

    Thank you very much.

    Best,

    Debbie
