Why is Vegas Pro 11 rendering and flattening layers upon opening?
Having a problem here with Sony Vegas Pro 11 build 701. The project opens fine on 3 different computers, however when my employed editor attempts to open the project Vegas seems to “render” the projects layers into one video track and one audio. There should be 3 video tracks and 3 audio.
We have tried different versions of Vegas on his computer but the problem remains on all of them.
Why would Vegas be doing this? We need to keep the tracks separate.

Your editor is importing the veg file into Vegas and then adding it to the timeline. Open it instead and things will be as expected.

Yea, as Mike said: tell them to use File | Open to open the project with all of it’s tracks and NOT File | Import which will import the entire project as a single piece of media.
