  AVI in Vegas (again?) =(

  Hi there,

  oh yes, I was looking for this problem in this forum and googled it alot, but unfortunately nobody could help me.

  I recorded a game with “action”. It’s generated in an avi container and here are the infos about the file:

  When I put it in Vegas (12), only the video stream will show up. Audio doesn’t. The strange – and for me not understandable – thing is: If I direct extract the audio with the program “super”, the wav-file looks like this:

  So.. am I crazy, or is it the exact same audio type/file/thing I got in the AVI-container of my video? Yes, it is I think. And now I can add this to Vegas and it works. Of course this workaround is really circuitous and also I think it must be possible to just add the AVI and it works…. somehow.

  Why doesn’t Vegas bring all the codecs with it so that you don’t have a problem? I don’t understand this. And I thought if my normal windows media player can playback the file.. then there must be a codec for that, right? Why doesn’t Vegas use it then? =(

  Remember AVI is a wrapper, meaning not all AVI’s are the same. Whatever you
  used to capture this AVI, uses a codec that Vegas does not interpret very well.
  Therefore the workaround you have is what you gonna have to stick with, if
  you gonna capture using that same device!
