Best format & containers to rip DVD and use in Sony Vegas?
What formats & containers are the best for ripping DVD to and Editing in Sony Vegas?
I’m doing a project with large number of clips from various movies and I want to make sure I use
the right format and container to make sure I don’t’ have any problems when I’m editing them all together, rendering or playing the final video in my media players. I use WMP and VLC. I have powerful enough computer but I’m usually not ripping entire DVDs, just clips for vidding. -

Audit all your Media. Those that don’t or aren’t recognised by Vegas you will need to conform to Vegas.

Aren’t DVD movies MPEG-2? I would assume you’d want to rip them with the same codec, that way you’re not converting them to something different. But maybe I’m wrong.

Yeah Dave, I read it he HAS all sorts of media and THEN wants to send to DVD. But I could be wrong.

As far as I know,Sony vegas cannot handel DVD and DVD folders. I think you need to rip DVD into MPEG-2, the most compatible video format for Vegas so that Sony Vegas can support well.
