I was wondering if anybody could help describe what the following terms mean(in reference to render settings):

    1. Allow source to adjust frame size [Check/Uncheck]. From what I guess, is this asking if the rendered version of the video is allowed to have parts where the frame size is different to the rest?
    2. Allow source to adjust frame rate [Check/Uncheck]. Again, is this saying can the rendered version have parts of different frame rates? I just understand why you would want this.
    3. Reference frames
    4. Deblocking filter
    5. Slices

I have searched around everywhere and can’t seem to find a simplified explanation. Please, if you have any links which would be more convenient for you to post, I am more than happy!

    Thanks a lot!

“Slices” does not appear to be in the help file.

Just use 1 for this unless you have a very specific reason for more than one. Such as level 4.1 Blu-ray.

Slices divide each frame into X number of independent parts. They can be encoded and decoded independently, but you lose some potential ability to compress the video better.
