  Problem Recording Audio in Vegas

  I have Vegas 5.0 and a PC with Windows 2K and a Creamware Pulsar II sound card.
  I open Vegas and a track and arm for record.
  The signal is visible on the meter on the left – looks perfect BUT:
  When I press Record, the “picture of the virtual tape” shows no waveforms, nor does the signal “stick” to the track.

  Since I can see the meter moving in time with the signal I wonder what’s wrong.
  I have recorded audio into this program before, although it’s a couple of years since I last did it.

  Grateful for any suggestions.

  Go into the settings of the Pulsar II sound card and make sure
  that whatever you are recording the audio with, that it is enabled
  or selected.
  Then again, using Vegas 5.0 and a PC with Windows 2K and a
  Creamware Pulsar II sound card is nothing short of a miracle to still
  be using in these times (smile).

  Does your sound card have ASIO drivers and if so, have you enabled them in the preferences?

  Do you have the correct input selected when you ARM the track?

  Definitely take a look at what Steve has said. I am thinking the same thing, that Windows is set to use another audio device for recording instead of the sound card you have. There should be a drop down under ‘Devices’ on the Record tab, and make sure your preferred sound card is selected.
