Transfer Newblue Titler Pro event to use OFX version of Titler Pro?
Hi all,
As some of you know I’ve had problems using the DirectX version of Newblue Titler Pro 2 in Vegas 12, which I uninstalled recently and instead got the OFX version working properly, but I have generated some media that used the DirectX version which I want to use in a Vegas 12 project, is there a way where a Titler Pro event can be switched over to use the OFX version if it was created in the DirectX version originally? I opened a Vegas 11 project that used the DirectX version and was reported with a missing media generator message. Thanks in advance.RickAVC

Not if you uninstalled the Direct X version. What you should have done is saved any of your Titles as presets before uninstalling the Direct X version. Then load those presets after you have installed the OFX version. It’s a tedious manual process and I’m not sure if it would work because I’ve never used the NewBlue Titler so I don’t know if it handles presets properly but it’s worth a try.

Hi John,
I did save 2 presets with the DirectX version, though they didn’t seem to show up in the OFX version, I could reinstall the DirectX version, access it through Vegas 11 and save the presets from the corresponding projects, but I’m not sure if just copying the saved preset XMLs is as simple as it gets…Thanks for the suggestion John,

That’s why I said I didn’t know if to would work. Sony OFX plug-ins specificailly look for Direct X presets and convert them to OFX presets. I guess NewBlue does not. So the answer to your questions is that you can’t transfer your work.
I would contact NewBlue and see if they have a solution.

If the event does not automatically transfer to the OFX, and it probably will not you can go to the file menu of Titler Pro and save your event settings as a Titler Pro project file. Then load the project file into your new OFX event.

Thanks Norman. I’ve never used the NewBlue Titler so I didn’t know it had a different way of saving it’s presets. Glad you figured out a solution.

To convert from DirectX to OpenFX, you would need to do the following:
1. Have the DirectX version installed.
2. For every title created using DirectX, open them and do a File – Save As and save each to their own name
3. Now uninstall the DirectX version and install only the OpenFX version.
4. Now replace the DirectX versions with OpenFX versions. When adding the new OpenFX title, then do a File – Open and open the saved title.For Vegas Pro 10 and newer, it is certainly recommend that you install only the OpenFX version.

For saved templates, you might look in the
c:\Program Files\NewBlue\Titler Pro for Windows\Resources folder. There are many subfolders to look through but the preset may be there.
Is it possibly a difference of 32-bit vs 64-bit? DirectX and OpenFX should share the same resources. But if one is 32-bit and one is 64-bit, then the resources may be under c:\Program Files(x86)\NewBlue\Titler Pro for Windows\Resources instead.

I had Titler Pro installed with both DirectX and OpenFX both Sony Vegas 64bit, saved templates are in C:\Program Files\NewBlue\Titler Pro. -
Titler Pro 2 and 3 will now save the presets under {My Documents}\NewBlueFX making them much easier to find.
