  Capturing old tapes in Vegas

  I have a friend who has an old VHS tape as well as some VHS-C tape & a couple of mini-dv’s as well. He would like them to be all converted to digital for use on his PC.

  It’s been so I have forgotten the process. I seem to recall that we must have Firewire capture. Is this the only way?

  Are there other options like using composite settings & capturing directly onto the Vegas timeline? Is the quality the same with various methods?

  You need an analog to digital converter like the Canopus ADVC-110 which connects via Firewire and produces a DV AVI file when captured by Vegas Pro. That’s the best way.
