Couple of Questions
1) Has anyone used the FREE version of Davinci’s Resolve? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Is it pretty scaled down, or feature rich?
2) Also, I’m getting an annoying problem here on the SV forum! When I first come to the site, if I click on a thread to read the post by the original poster, then the first time I click on one of the responses, an ad pops up! It’s annoying! It never used to do that.
Also, I’ve noticed that in several posts, a word or phrase will be highlighted, like the following:
How do I get rid of that?!

Not certain, but I suspect it is a setting in your browser. Have you changed or updated it lately, or has something added a “feature” to the browser?

Annoying add popups are usually a sign if malware. I would download free version of MalwareBytes and do a deep scan off your computer. There is nothing here at the COW that would cause those links in the middle of text. Something has gotten hold of your browser.

I did that the other day with Malwarebytes. I’ll do it again and see.

I ran a thorough scan with Malwarebytes and unfortunately, it’s still doing it.
Is there something else I can run, or something I should do within the browser? (I use Firefox.)

Yeah, ive tried it, but would only recommend it to a film studio
or a dedicated colorist. Yes its scaled down but still has tons

Yea, try SpyBot and AdAware. I find that certain programs find some malware and others don’t. I always run a few.

Does sound like a virus, do you get it when browsing with Chrome?

Actually, I found a great article here.
I downloaded and ran Adwcleaner and that seemed to help.

Wow, that thing is invasive! I’m glad I use a Mac. lol 😉
You should also install Web Of Trust (WOT) into all of your browsers. This will rate links in web searches and show a green ring for good rating, yellow for caution (there have been complaints about the site) and red for “don’t go there!”. Also if you click any link and the site has a bad rating WOT will caution you that you should not click through. I have it on every computer in my family, Mac’s or PC’s and it’s really a valuable tool for not getting spoofed when surfing. I can’t tell you how many times the fist page in a Google search has several yellow or red icons with nasty links. Don’t go surfing without it! 😉

There was a big story on the news this morning that Yahoo got hacked and is spreading malware through it’s add portal. This may be where you got it!

According to the report:
Two Internet security firms have reported that Yahoo’s advertising servers have been distributing malware to hundreds of thousands of users over the last few days. The attack appears to be the work of malicious parties who have hijacked Yahoo’s advertising network for their own ends. Fox IT says Yahoo users have been getting infected since at least Dec. 30.
