Apologizes if this has already been covered. I have 2 hrs. GoPro footage, 1080p 24fps. Of course the footage is on a micro a SD card and needs to be imported before I can start. The “ru_util.exe” doesn’t recognize the files. The Sony Device Explorer doesn’t recognize the files either. The 2 hr recording is broken into segments 3.84 GB each. These will need to be stitched together into a continuous clip during import.

What software will I need to accomplish this?

Don’t know what ru_util.exe is or what it is supposed to do.
Device explorer is for navigating the storage of specific cameras. See the help for that list of cameras.

The GoPro simply writes ordinary files or an standard formatted SD card. Nothing special needed. Copy the files from the SD card to your PC. Use File|Open, or import media into the Vegas project of your choice.

[Larry Brewer] “The “ru_util.exe” doesn’t recognize the files. “

Ru_util is for Sony HDV hard drive recording units.

Have you tried GoPro Studio? Isn’t that the free software that comes with the camera? I would try that. I don’t have a GoPro but lots of people here use them so someone is bound to answer correctly soon.

Actually the files need to be stitched back together because the camera must break them up into sections that fit on the FAT32 file system.

You could use the DOS command:copy /b file1+file2+file3 bigfile to stitch them together.

I figured one would just put the clips up against each other on your Vegas timeline. If the clips are not going to be edited then yes they will need to be stitched.

Copy will not work as the MP4 file headers will conflict.

GoPro Studio is really about just conversion to Cineform with simple end trims and color/contrast type edits.

That doesn’t always work. Sometimes you’ll get audio gaps depending on how the camera splits the files. When his happens, stitching the files together usually fixes the gaps.
