Some Audio files not recognized in SV12
Hello, I have been using Sony Vegas 9-11 for 2 years and Sony Vegas 12 for one year, and I have encountered the following problem-
Whenever I try to put in music to my SV12 timeline, it shows the error symbol(circle with a diagonal line across it). I try to import the music, however it just gives me an error window saying Sony Vegas could not open the file, even though it was in an .mp3 format.
I’ve had this problem once or twice, but it fixed with a restart. Now, it doesn’t. I’ve already tried the ctrl+shift thing, but still nothing. I have a video to further detail my situation. Thanks.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW1rIZ9Lero&feature=youtu.be

If you can play the file on your PC, but not import it into Vegas, it would indicate that Vegas doesn’t want to know. Some background info for you: The suffix – MP3 – is just an envelop that can “indicate” what is inside it. Just because it says MP3 doesn’t mean that Vegas will open it! – And yes, you’ve now proved that!
O…K… You have 2 choices to try out, but before that do download the TWO freebie Media CODEC interrogators so you can then tell us here what CODEC is needed to decode that which is inside that “MP3”:
Here are your 2 choices:
A] Try and import directly into Vegas using Vegas Explorer. At present you are dragging from where? Windows Media Player? Windows Explorer? It could be your “player” is capable to DECODE the MP3 and now you are needing to Import into Vegas, all bets are off?
B] Render those MP3 files as something that Vegas will “natively” recognise. Using MediaInfo and G-Spot will help you determine just what is inside those MP3s.
I’d strongly advise you NOT to get further CODEC packs to try an import MP3s.
Why your approach was successful before, I have absolutely no idea at all! But, we now need to start from “here” and hopefully get you on your way.

Thanks Graham, i’ll try those options. I dragged them from the start menu and from both Windows and Vegas explorer, but it gives me the error symbol over the timeline. I’ll try the options and let you know. Thanks.
