  • A Specific Color That Stands Out, Can You Change It?

Hey guys check out this picture its a guy getting his arm punched off
the animators colored the blood white, and inverted the image to make it less violent

    6820_jlklko.jpg.zip

My question, is there anyway that I can make this blood that is white red but keep everything else the same color?

What i did was i noticed the picture was inverted originally, so I added the invert effect in Vegas back onto it and that is the picture you get there, it looks a little more normal now except now the blood looks almost dark purple, I think that is a better start now

Is there anyway that I can change this dark purple to red in Vegas?

I know I can edit the picture in photoshop frame by frame but that would be over 100 pictures to edit manually

    Thanks!

That will be tough because the blood is almost the same color as the shadows. Here’s the best that Photoshop can do with it, and you will see some areas that aren’t blood, such as on the fingertips. Those are easily masked out in Photoshop, but in a video you would need to keyframe the mask position. If you record your color change in an action, you may be able to automate much of the process in Photoshop.

Im having a bit of trouble with this, so far ive added a second color corector, but the best I can get it was I boosted up the saturation, now the blood is a very dark purple, i tried to change it to red but things around are being affected as well! is there any way I can just make the dark purple blood red?

You will have difficulties using the secondary corrector, if other
elements in the shot has the same color.

Correct. However . . . If you are using Sony Vegas 12 you have a facility to restrict FXs to a MASK and prevent the 2nd CC from affecting other areas you don’t wish.

    A great feature, FX-Masking.
