Need h.e.l.p with an audio effect
Posted by John Hancock on November 9, 2013 at 2:44 amI have been using Sony Vegas for a few years and i like to think i am atleast an intermediate in audio editing and a master (or nearly a master) at video editing. I have an idea i want to implement into a audio track on a video clip, and this idea i can’t do because i can’t find an option for it and i don’t know the name of what i’m trying to do!
Example: I want to start off with the audio track at normal pitch but i want the pitch to get higher as the video progresses. Think of it like animating keyframes in a video clip so the video zooms as the video progresses (e.g, the start is normal but i want to make camera zoom in as it goes on, easy, i put a keyframe to be zoomed in really close at the last keyframe). Get the idea? I Hope Vegas has what i am trying to do…

[John Hancock] ” I Hope Vegas has what i am trying to do.”
_______________________________________________________________Sony’s Élastique Time Stretch effect. It is fully Keyframe-enabled through Track Envelopes on that Track:-
I had a feeling it was possible, and I had my ideas confirmed by one of the Gurus on the Sony Vegas Forum – Skaven252 – who wrote:-
1) Insert an Élastique Time Stretch effect to the track
2) Click the “Configure FX Automation” button (top right corner of the Audio Plug-In window)
3) Checkbox which parameters you want to automate (Pitch Shift Ratio is the one you want)
4) Voilá! An automation envelope will appear on your audio track for Pitch Shift automation.

November 9, 2013 at 3:22 pmMy audio Time Stretch option within Vegas Pro 12 doesn’t look like the one you’ve shown. Why?

November 9, 2013 at 10:16 pmGraham Bernard is using a third party plugin not a native one.
This one: Elastique Pitch
The native Vegas pitch shift plugin does not support automation.

_______________________________________________________________Matt, I invite you to look closer at the SONY Logo on that Elastique Plug …. The PLUG is a SONY Plug and as such is licensed to me to use. Doesn’t that make it a native SONY non-third party Plug? Please correct me if I’m wrong. I don’t like suggesting a Plug without warning that it may not be available with the SONY SV product.
Cheers

November 10, 2013 at 12:47 amWell that is interesting. What country are you in? Where did you purchase Sony Vegas? That plug in does not seem to be present in all distributions of Vegas (and judging from Ron’s post his does not have it either.)

November 10, 2013 at 12:53 amAh.. I think I have it figured out. Elastique is a Sound Forge plugin that Vegas also recognizes.

_______________________________________________________________I receive my versions of Vegas directly from the SCS Download which is a Global portal.

_______________________________________________________________“ . . in all distributions of Vegas” that is some sweeping statement, Matt? How far back do you consider all? Vegas Video 3? 4 . . . . OK, and for the record, and your understanding, the plugin had been made available to Vegas Pro since Vegas Pro9c and further improved in Vegas Pro9d. Here is the reference I sourced this, the Official SCS White Paper made available to us all over 3 years ago in MAY 2010:

_______________________________________________________________Matt, and again, please read carefully my previous paragraph relating to the inclusion/release of zplane élastique Pro into Vegas Pro9 (May 2010). I can only offer you the opportunity to read the White Paper and ask you to reconsider your comments above.
If I thought for one moment that I had unfortunately invited “others” to make use of a plug that wasn’t available to them, then I will consider updating this thread to take account of any oversight on my part. I have to assume that all users are current with the latest version of Vegas Pro – here that would be VP12. If this isn’t the case then the onus relies on the User to make clear what version they are currently running. NOT to do that would/does waste a lot of time for all of us chasing our collective tails; explore irrelevant paths; seeking solutions and making statements that are out of phase with the latest VP versions here to restate for this thread using VP12 (and all the way back to VP9! . . and then some). However, and until somebody updates us, that doesn’t appear to be the case: zplane élastique Pro was included in Vegas Pro9 May 2010. I would have to assume that the User is at least only 2 versions back.
Matt, if you have a better solution to Version-Awareness, please put it forward. From what you are saying I now have to assume you aren’t working Version 9c upwards? Is this true?

_______________________________________________________________John, please confirm your Version of Vegas and Build Number. Please describe your steps so far.
As this is a most powerful and function-rich Vegas feature, I strongly advise you to read the superb Online Help File which has both easy steps and Graphics to explain. Within the Online Help File please Copy and Paste the following line into the search facility: “Automating Audio Effect Parameters”
