Vegas Pro 12 Black Preview/Render
So, this problem suddenly appeared out of nowhere. I have been able to render videos without issue in the past. I come back to do a new video a month later and all of a sudden I have nothing but problems…
The Problem: In Sony Vegas in my current video project, the video preview will often be black, sometimes it will show the video but it will never play the whole thing without going black at some point. The same is true when rendering, the render can go black at any time and then will stay black to the very end. The final video is then black, and when the preview turns black I have to restart the program for it to reappear..
Is there any idea what might be causing this? I’ve tried various different output settings, different render settings, GPU acceleration on and off etc. Nothing I do seems to have any effect. I’ve also made sure that none of the files were muted etc. It’s incredibly bizarre that this just started happening. any help is appreciated!

I’ve made a small discovery. The footage that keeps blacking out is footage from my iphone. I had also put in footage that was screen captured through fraps on my computer, and that footage does not black out and will render, but the rest of the footage in the video won’t.

Then its because the video from your iphone seems to have some form of
corruption. Try getting a new source from the phone.Steve Rhoden

Thanks for the reply, I figured out what the problem was. It was something to do with the newest Quicktime version conflicting with the .mov files in vegas. I downgraded my Quicktime and everything worked flawlessly.

Thats good. Which Quicktime version did you downgrade to?

This is a known issue with MOV files in Vegas.
The other problem you may encounter is Vegas crashing with iPhone footage. The only way I got around that was to render the footage out to m2t in another editing program.
My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 12 (x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6
