  • Video track out of sync after render [Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 10.0]

    Hey guys.
Currently having some sync issues with my recorded files.

These issues only seem to occur when I record a Gamecube game or a Wii game from my Nintendo Wii. My Xbox 360 also has this issue if I record in 720p but it does not have it in 1080i.

The file goes out of sync after the render as shown here. Skip to 16:15 and watch the Goblin jump and the delay in the sound:

The raw file is in sync and it is also in sync in my Sony Vegas timeline.

Here is all of my settings:

I record in Avermedia center with MPEG-2 on these settings:

I rendered multiple times while tweaking many different settings such as the FPS, the result was almost always exactly the same.

Here is the raw file and the rendered file on the timeline. Notice that the audio is identical on both tracks but the video is different.

The video is obviously the problem but I have no clue while. I’m feeling mentally exhausted from all of it to be totally honest and it’s highly annoyance because I cannot understand why it is occuring.

Help would be much appreciate. If you need more information ask away!

Then render out the video and audio separately, then drop
them back on the timeline accordingly, then make your final
render. (You need not worry about quality loss).

Thanks for the suggestions but does that mean for each recording I make I would have to render my clip three times? A video render, a audio render and a final render?

Is there no other solution? I would look at that as a bit of a last resort.

It is a last resort in your situation Alan, because the
problem is deriving from the Gamecube game, Wii game and the
Nintendo Wii that you are recording from.

    Thanks again for your help.

After another day of testing I seemed to have found a solution.

Using the exact same Sony Vegas settings I decided to re-record my footage but this time using the H.264 format in Avermedia center.

The strange thing I discovered was that my MPEG-2 recording was being detected by Sony Vegas as being a 30FPS file. The H.264 was deteced as a 29.970FPS file. Windows told me the same thing for both files.

I wonder did that have something to do with it.
Either way, I’m happy I found a way to render GC/Wii footage without problems. Just a pity I have to switch recording methods for different devices.

    Thanks again!

Well, glad you got that sorted….. I should have asked you
earlier, where is your finished renders destined?

Where am I outputting my renders? Well I render all my files on my C drive which is my Windows Drive. I output all my renders to the desktop of my C drive if thats what you mean.
