Vegas 11 putting .1 second (or less) gaps in a new project
I have Quantize to Frames turned on. I just drag and drop my 23.97 fps footage onto the timeline of dozens of clips, and there are tiny gaps between each shot when you get to over half way in the timeline. I’m deleting them all manually, though I know Vegasaur will delete them all.
What gives? Vegas has been buggy lately for that matter. Maybe I should reinstall it. On a project I just edited with a few video tracks, each video track had different color curve settings. When I would move a clip between tracks, the settings would be applied suddenly and about half way through the clip, and sometimes they would flicker in and out. The problem went away on its own after a few minutes, but it’s very annoying.

I can repro what you are getting ONLY if my Project Settings do not match my Media. Turning OFF QTF will allow me to loose the Gaps, but then I’d have QTF OFF – not a good idea.
So, your choices:
1] Match your Project to the Media
or
2] Turn OFF QTF

Sure, sounds like Vegas was playing catch-up with your machine. So, reinstalling Vegas may not be at fault. It could be that you need to start considering reducing any PC overheads you have?

Little gaps happen to me with QTF on only for certain cameras. Apparently the video segments from those cameras are interpreted by Vegas as having a non-integral number of frames, i.e. a fractional final frame. With QTF on, newly inserted events will not line up to the end of these fractional frames. Easy enough to find using a high timeline zoom, QTF on, and the ‘]’ key to jump to the ends of events, and fix with the ‘1’ key to trim.

I don’t see how it can be because my project settings don’t match my media. This has happened to me on other projects recently, all 23.97 fps footage, 1920×1080, etc.
Now, I did have a bunch of 59.97 fps footage on this project from my t3i, so I know how foolish that statement sounds. But I’ve done that on plenty of projects and never had this problem.

Also weird. On this project with multiple video tracks, footage from a Canon Vixia HF S21 and a Canon t3i, and plugins on every video track, preview runs fine during editing. Yet on a simple video I shot the other day, preview was stuttering at 2-3 frames per second.

I’ve checked my Task Manager, but I don’t know what processes I could stop, if any. The only one taking up considerable bandwidth is AdobeFlashPlugin or something. I’ve googled it but can’t find anything saying whether I can stop it or not.
Earlier this week I edited with QTE off because I was having this problem. I noticed that there is no black space in the video in these games, they’re that small. So for now I stopped looking for them. And there are no gaps in the finished video, so I didn’t want to turn off QTE.

Have/had you tried matching your Media to the Project? I’d not do Projects that didn’t have QTF set to on, unless I had a very and I mean very good reason to do so.
If you are unwilling to set your Project to match your Media and then not being able to post here the results of that, I can’t assist any further.
