    Hi all,

I’m using Vegas Pro 12 on a Win 7 x64 machine, and have noticed odd behavior when I try to save effects presets — the settings don’t stick.

I save a Color Corrector preset, for example. Then when I go to re-apply it to another clip, the settings are completely off, not at all what should be in the preset.

I have no idea how to troubleshoot this, so any advice is greatly appreciated. It is costing me a lot of time not being able to create presets.

I did search here and couldn’t find anyone having this same problem; my apologies in advance if I’ve overlooked a useful thread.

    Cheers,
    Lori

I can’t duplicate this. I just created a preset with the Color Corrector and applied it to another event and all of the parameters are exactly the same. I can’t imagine why this is happening to you but it’s not that way for everyone. I’m using Vegas Pro 12.0 build 563. Make sure that you’re using the latest build.

Thanks, John! I am still on an older build — I’ve been afraid to upgrade because everything (apart from this issue) is working fine and I don’t want to break anything when I have this big project due. But I’ve downloaded the latest patch and will bite the bullet and install it to see if it fixes the issue. Will report back with what happens, so anyone else having the same problem will know how it turned out.

    Hi again,

The problem is still persisting in build 563. Very strange!

I can save presets using the Sony Color Curves. But the Sony Color Corrector and Levels do crazy things when I try to apply a saved preset.
Levels jumps to max values all the way across (1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 5.0),
And the Color Corrector jumps to Saturation 3,0, Gamma 2.0, Gain 2.0, and Offset -254, with the Highs pulled all the way over to 3 o’clock (blue/violet).

I am completely stumped! I’ve emailed support and will report back if they have an answer for me, but until then it looks like color curves will be my friend.

Wow, that is strange. Let us know what tech support says.

I’m just started to use Sony Vegas Movie Studio 12 and am having the same kind of problem. The only pre-set I’ve attempted to save so far relates to a title format but I have had the same experience i.e. that the value are simply not saved. Even though the new pre-set name appears in the drop-down list, the values remain the same as for the default. I’m finding this a real pain. Having to reset the default every time is really slowing me down. I did not have this problem with version 10.

I should have added that I am using the latest version of the software i.e. 1184 which I downloaded on 15 February 2014.
Now that version 13 has been released, does it mean that this bug will remain unfixed?

Yes, that’s why Sony discounts the upgrade price ($49.95 USD) for existing customers. If you want continued support you need to keep your software up to date.

There’s more to new versions than bug fixes and I deliberately chose Version 12 over 13 after reading the reviews of 13. And some companies (e.g. Microsoft) do release bug fixes for earlier versions of their software.
Fortunately, I’ve found a simple workaround for the problem. The Legacy Sony titler I used in version 10 is still available in version 12 and it retain values whereas the later titler does not.
