  Sony Vegas rendering on hybrid GPU system (VPCZ13M9E/B)

  Hi,

  I have a Sony Vaio Z (VPCZ13M9E/B) although it is a few years old it is still a great performing machine! I have just startede to use Sony Vegas 12 pro (which is a very nice piece of software), but I can’t get the GPU rendering to work – the software simply can’t locate the Geforce 330m GPU. The computer has a hybrid GPU setup (so cannot update the graphics card since it has been customized by Sony), so I guess that’s part of the problem?! But you should think that a Sony computer and Sony software should be a match made in heaven. Can somebody please help me solve this issue?!

  I don’t think that Sony has changed the GPU in any way. I would download the latest drivers for that chipset from nVidia’s website, then see if the GPU shows in the render option.

  Just an fyi: i’m not sure what CPU your system has, but that chipset is for mobile systems, so you probably won’t see any render benefit from it.

  But yes, the driver has been changed. I have of course tried to update them in several ways, but the nVIDIA setup doesn’t recognize the hardware – and yes it is a 330m, so perhaps you are right about the limitted or no benefit. But IF….
