external graphic card for Imac ? Is it possible in june 2013?
Hello!
I’ve made lots of search about ading an external graphic card to my I-mac i7 (with thunderbolt). I’s very hard to find out between all those differents advices.
Is it now possible in june 2013?
I use sony vegas in bootcamp and always have message of satured memory and I have to reboot often in order to make a render in HD.I have:
3,4 GHz Intel Core i7
16 Go 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)I use Vegas with Windows 7 64 bits
And my bootcamp partition for windows is very large (80%)Any advices?

Sony Vegas Pro 10.0 doesn’t make much use of a GPU (only for a few render formats) and you already have a AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB in your iMac. I’m not sure what you’re looking for but Vegas Pro 10.0 isn’t going to use it anyway.

Ok, thanks for answering, at least this is clear!
So I’ll have to find another solutions to my rendering problems.
I often have messages that says virtual memory saturated even after a rebooting and with all programmes closed except Vegas.
I have to make my big rendering (something like 10 minutes in full HD) in an another computer where I work.
Is it normal with that kind of computer with this configuration?

Running out of memory like that with 16GB of memory is not normal. Are you using the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Vegas Pro 10? You need to use the 64-bit version to take advantage of all of that memory. If you are using the 32-bit version you are only using 2GB which could be your problem.
