AVI Microsoft Video 1 – Can Vegas Render This type of AVI Codec?
Hello… I have to take a bunch of videos in various formats and convert them to AVI Files using the Microsoft Video 1 Codec… These videos need to play on a jumbo screen at a baseball stadium…

Can Sony Vegas be used to create such a file? If So what setting do I select when rendering?
It will also accept MPEG2 files but Vegas will not do Widescreen MPEG2 files with audio… I know normally you have to render the files out as a video stream and then as a seperate audio stream but I do not think Vegas can make a widescreen MPEG2 file with sound so I don’t think I will be able to use MPEG2 files if I want widescreen with sound…
So it seems that AVI is my only choice if using Vegas as my render engine.
Are there any other video encoding programs that will encode video into AVI files with the Microsoft video1 codec? If so I would appreciate any recommendations!

Yes, open the Video for Windows render type and select one of the templates that match your resolution and frame rate. Press the Customise Template… button and in the Custom Settings window go to the Video Format dropdown and select Microsoft Video 1. You also might want to increase the Quality to High. Then save this as “Jumbotron” or something and use it for your renders.

Once again feel free to use the Customize Template button and add audio to any template you’d like.
