Production Asst – vs. – Vegasaur
My Vegasaur trial ran out and I used a feature it had I can’t find in the new ProdAsst 2.0.7:
I have a short film on a single timeline. I want to render each scene out as a separate clip. So I put markers at the head of each scene, with a Marker Name denoting that scene.
In Vegasaur, I could conveniently render each marker/scene as its own new file (it would internally create a region, from the Marker up until the next marker, dig?). This allows me to do changes/re-renders on a scene by scene basis, which I can then nest into a master project.
I can’t find the same functionality in Prod Asst. Sure, I can set up my own regions, but then I have to render them one by one manually. Is there a way to tell Prod Asst “Hey, render my markers/regions in my timeline, using the Marker Names to generate the new File Name, all in one fell swoop, so I can leave and go do errands”?

If you are still in need of a one button solution to your render problem I can give you a Vegas extension I am working on. It is not fully finished yet but the rendering of markers exactly like you describe is completely done. As long as you give feedback afterward it is yours.

I am assuming since you have used other extensions you know how they work and where to find them in Vegas. Just place this in My Documents/Vegas Application Extensions and start “Black Tools”.

For rendering markers you need to have a final marker labeled “end” (without quotes) otherwise the last marker will render to the end of the project.

Your correct that Production Assistant does not have the region render capability but you can get it in VASST Render Assistant. It’s only $9.95 USD and will render your markers without any problems (no need to convert them to regions).

Hello John,
Could you be of help to me please?
We supply around 10, 1 minute videos to our customers a day.
We now have 30 customers, all of which require their videos to have their own branding, and MP3 voice-over with music.
These videos also need text, contrast adjustment and stabilisation.
Our customer base number is also growing.I currently use Sony Vegas to create templates for each customer and manually render one video at a time.
Production Assistant, has helped a little with this process, but I can only render the 10 videos per customer at a time, then change the preset and carry on.
Is there a more elegant solution commercially available or within PA?
If not Perhaps you, or a company you know of that has expertise in this area might be interested in developing a script?Kind regards,
