Vegas 11 Render Crash at 25% please assist
I’m rendering a 22 minute short film and Sony Vaegas keeps crashing at 25%! I’d like to think Im fairly versed when using this suite, but I have tried everything. I use a custom template for 1920×1080, disabled resample etc. I’ve tried the highest quality bit rate down to the lowest and still crashes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Theyre .mov files after colorgrading in after effects and wrapped in a h.264 codec. I know its more of a delivery format, but I’m stumpedddd

if the rendering process crashes at the exact same time every time ? then Vegas doesn’t like something at that point in the timeline, any video effect ? transition ? titles ?

Thats what I thought too, but when I change the quality, it changes the placement of the crash to a different clip, but still at the same 25%….

How does the crash present? Is there an error message or do the lights in the room dim? Does the computer meltdown or does Vegas just stop, exit or blue-screen?
Find and run CoreTemp while performaing a “Render As”. Encoding is processor intensive and it your PC is overheating it could be shutting down.

Vegas just gets to 25% and stops rendering. Although the expected time of completion still counts down, the program itself stops responding. I did render an 8bit copy, but I need 32bit full range.. ANY RENDER SETTINGS OR TEMPLATES YOUD RECOMMEND FOR A DVD OUTPUT?

You can’t put 32-bit video on a standard DVD. A DVD is 8-bit MPEG2. Anything else gets re-encoded. Use the DVDA template and your MPEG file will be DVDA ready.
A long time ago, Version 8 or 9, I think, “render as” would sometimes stop as you describe. I discovered that I had some unused media in my project. Go to the Project Media window and click on the lightning bolt icon to remove unused media.

Thanks for the replies. Are there specific settings that youd recommend for the highest possible quality? Detailed description would be a huge help. Thanks so much!!

There isn’t much you can do. Use a bitrate calculator to determine your bitrates to encode a 4.3Gb MPEG file.
