  Used to be able to use MOV but not anymore

  Alright, so last week I started a project and after filming the video files were all found to be MOV files. No biggie, they worked fine in Vegas Pro 9. Skip to yesterday, we finish filming and again with the same camera and the video files are in MOV. Load that stuff into Vegas and whoa, all the video is just black. The audio is fine but the video, come on man.

  So I have no idea what happened. Both the footage from last week and yesterday no longer work. I went about and installed a bunch of codecs, updated Quicktime, and searched around the web for about an hour. I got nothing.

  I ended up converting the MOV’s to WMV’s but I’m a bit upset with the quality loss and how there’s a damn watermark on it. Does anyone know what’s going on?

  Something changed about your computer between last week and now. I would restore your computer from a backup of when MOV files worked. If you don’t have a backup, try using System Restore and see if there is a restore point from when it worked.

  Were you installing QuickTime codecs? or just randomly installing codecs? Because that could really mess up your computer further especially if you installed any Codec-Paks. QuickTime won’t see any of these codecs.

  WMV is the WORST possible format you could have used. I assume whatever program you used to convert them added the watermark.

  You need to determine why QuickTime no longer works. What did you change about your computer? Did you install Windows updates? Can you view the videos in the QuickTime player?
