About The Number Of Tracks
Does the number of video tracks(not in use and without plugins) affect rendering time?
I mean let’s assume you have 50 video tracks, some are used in one part of the video and some in other parts etc, when tracks have nothing playing do they still affect rendering time?
My answer obvious would be no cause there’s nothing playing but maybe there’s more than meets the eye 😉We have so much time and so little to do! / Willy Wonka

Yea, you can try it yourself. Render out a project with a single track. Then add 50 empty tracks above it and render again. The second render will take longer. Delete the 50 tracks and you’re back to your original render time. So the number of tracks does affect render time even if they are empty.

Yeah I thought about doing that but that’s why there’s this place with people more experienced about vegas 😉
Do you guys have an idea how much those empty tracks affects rendering time?
Like……….using your example………1 track playing a 5 minutes video and more 50 empty tracks, how much time will they add?
Are we talking about seconds, minutes or hours?We have so much time and so little to do! / Willy Wonka

I’ve also found that muting unused tracks will speed up your rendering time. This is useful if you’re rendering your project in discreet sections, which I do frequently; if a given section has no content on a track, I mute it when I render that section. My renders are always quicker when I do.
