  • Alpha Channel on Export Not Showing

I am attempting to export a lower third that I created within After Effects for use within Final Cut. The Composition does have an alpha channel, and I have set the render output to lossless with alpha; however, when I import the resultant .mov into Final Cut the background is a solid black. What is going on here? Why am I not ending up with an alpha?

also, there should be some way of checking the footage interpretation in fcp, it may be that fcp is set to ignore the alpha for that footage.

to verify that the footage does indeed have an alpha channel, bring it back into ae, then you’ll know whether it was rendered correctly from ae, or if it is a problem seeing the alpha in fcp.

[Kevin Camp] “to verify that the footage does indeed have an alpha channel”

You can do the same in FCP, set the viewer or canvas to show alpha.
