  • Media generator: Placement, Efffects and Properties tabs?

Posted by Nick White on February 21, 2013 at 7:53 am

Mike mentioned these in a reply to me regarding scrolling. I assumed he must have been referring to Pro. But I have just been watching a YT tute about working with text and it was supposed to refer to Studio Platinum. IT showed those tabs.

But in that video, I see “Video media generators” as the heading, then “Sony Text” as the category. I am seeing “Video media generators” and “Sony Titles and Text” …..and no sign of any tabs. This the result of plugging in a Text Media clip.

Can somebody tell me what’s happening here, please? This and the fact that the No Letterboxing option has gone from the Render As setup is freaking me out.

    Thanks for any help

    Nick

Besides Titles & Text, you have the (Legacy) Text in Media Generators if (Vegas) Movie Studio 11/12 installed properly. (Legacy) Text has the Placement etc. tabs.
Did you install the download version? Some reports of the package version 12 installer not always working right.

Hay thanks Jorma! Wow that was confusing. In the Tute Video it was not showing Legacy Text at all (Just Text), but it had the tabs.

In the Text Editor, it has a little thing that lets you drag the text around on a small square, _sort_ of like the Legacy text. It was hidden in a closed arrow setup. In many ways it’s better than the Legacy Text, as you can also drag it in the preview screen.

I was starting to think it was something like this, but I just could not find those tabs!

    Anyway, thanks again

BTW. I used the download version. Sorry I did not address that.

Yeah Mike and thank you very much for putting in so much effort. I have been flittering about like a mosquito in a colander, trying to pick the “right” hole :). But it all seems sorted now. Just that some plugins have one interface and others have others.

    Much appreciated to all.

HAH! Editing may be fulfilling, interesting, productive etc, but _happy_? 😀

I just finished a little 8 min video from clips that I took of a dog belonging to a couple that take her to the park to play. It was hard work, pretty much learning as I went and actually building a multimedia PC on the fly. I was reasonably happy with the result, but they were rapt. The look on the woman’s face made it all worth it. It is cheating a bit, because she loves the dog: an easy target 😀

    Hello,
I accidentally moved the Video Media Generator window from just being an open window to being inside the “Preset” window. Do you know how to reverse this?

    Thanks.

My guess is that you have docked it. You can dock windows with other windows even though they are not in the main dock.

If so, to the left of each tabbed item in a dock is a little vertical row of “flags” grab that and pull it away to free the tab to a window.

To avoid docking, hold down the control key (Mac has an equivalent key I assume) while moving the window around
