  • External editor: new media file not changed.

I select an audio event and ask to edit in an external editor. I make big changes (so it’s obvious) and export the audio clip. When I get back to Vegas, the new clip is there, as promised (clip name Take 2.wav). But when I actually place the clip on the timeline, it has not changed from the original. If I manually bring in the same clip to the media pane and drop _that_ on the timeline, it _has_ changed. It has exactly the same name as the one Vegas imported, but as I say, it is the same audio as the original, not the edited.

    Help me Obi-Wan Kenobe

I’m not sure about what you are doing. When you right-click an audio event and select edit in an external editor the media is already on the timeline, why are you saying that after you edit it, you drop it on the timeline?

Also the changes are ADDED as a Take. You can press the “T” key to cycle through all of the takes for a single event. It does NOT replace the original media. Perhaps this is where your confusion lies. Your original media is still there in the event and the new media is added as a new take. This has nothing to do with dropping the media from the media pool which will use the original media if that’s what you drop or the new media if that’s what you drop.

OK. I understand your confusion. I has me confused and I may have explained badly.

Anyhoo…I closed Vegas and tried again. All seems normal now. So I am not sure what I did.

So thanks for explaining. That is pretty much what I thought, but it did not seem to be working.
