Color Match in Vegas12
Has anyone tried to use the new color match effect in Vegas 12 and apply it to an entire track. I’ve had no luck with that and it leaves me with lots of solid bright colors.
It works fine when applied from one event to another but applying it to a track seems to be an issue.

Dont notice that issue here Roger, although the correct way i would
think to use it, is applying it to events and not on a track level.Steve Rhoden

What you could do, once you do a color match, is to save it as a preset.
Then apply that at the track level. -

I’d like to apply that to a track because the entire project is basically made up of 3 cameras shooting the same scene.

Hi Roger. I have applied it to the track successfully. Open the reference clip in the trimmer. Open the plugins from the track. Select “use trimmer image” as the image source. Not as good as real color correction but quite usable and fast.

I have discovered that it does work UNLESS I have other effects on the track and then I always end up with this…
and color match doesn’t help much if I can’t also add other effects to my original track.
It doesn’t seem to matter where the effect is added in the chain either.

Interesting. I sure I did the color match first. Thought I had a couple more plugins going on the track. Will check and test.

It may work with doing the color match first but if you can’t get the primary video you want to match it does not good. In other words, it has to match the already adjusted video.

Hi Roger,
I went back to the job were I used color match. Turns out I was archiving footage onto Bluray. I took a small section and rendered it with the color adjusted. I brought the rendered section into the project and opened it in the trimmer. Then I opened the track plugins for color match and used the trimmer clip as reference. -
I will give that a try. Sounds like a good work around.
