  Sony Vegas Pro 12 Flickering Preview Window – (Sony Ex3 Clips)

  Hello everyone,
  I have about 6 hours of footage recorded in Sony Ex3 camera, while trying to import the clips in to sony Vegas Pro 10 I could only see the audio and no video.
  So after searching on the net I found out Vegas Pro 12 has functionality to import Ex3 recorded clips with out installing any codecs, so I upgraded.. so now I can import clips the video shows as well but when I preview the video keep flickering and sometimes frames jumping between clips.. it’s very hard to figure out neat cut points and is slowing me down extremely.. Please let me know what I have to do to stop the flickering and smooth preview.

  Also another question.. I need to burn these files in to DVD to the highest quality, what should I render as? which format and what settings so I don’t lose the quality while burning to dvd?
  Can sony vegas burn a dvd directly from Vegas with out having to render first and then use a dvd burning software?

  There should not be any flickering. If you can you share a small file on a service like DropBox I’d be happy to download it and see if it flickers on my computer.

  This is the same answer it’s been for the last 10 years. Render using MainConcept MPEG-2 and the appropriate DVD Architect Widescreen template for your country (NTSC or PAL). Then render your audio as Dolby Digital AC-3 and give both files the same name (just with different extensions).

  DVD’s are Standard Definition and contain 5 times less information than your HD source so your footage will always loose quality when burning a DVD. DVD is not a delivery vehicle for HD, Blu-ray is.

  Yes, but only if your source is already DVD compliant MPEG2 files which yours are not. No software in the world can burn your HD source to an SD DVD without rendering it first because DVD’s are Standard Definition.
