Vegas 12 Pro crashes driving me crazy(!)
Hi guys.
I’m a first time poster but I’ve been using Vegas for over a year. It’s got to the point now where it’s almost unuseable because of the amount of crashes I’m getting. They always happen when I try to preview a video in the timeline.
I don’t think I’m missing any codecs so I’m at a real loss to explain why this is so.
Can anyone offer any suggestions please?

Could you provide a bit more detail? What kinds of files are you trying to edit? Why do you think there are no missing codecs? What happens when you get a crash? What version of Windows? Can you describe your computer (i.e. processor, memory, hard drives, etc.)? It is hard to respond without a lot more information.

What do you have your RAM Preview set to? I’ve found that if you set it back to the default (200) it stops certain crashes.

It was just set to 200 but I’ve increased it to 300 and the crashes are less frequent, although sometimes the Colour Match effect turns the video off after a render.

Yea, there is some link between that setting and crashes. I hope Sony fixes it soon. Glad it helped a little.

I just can’t preview a scene in my timeline without a crash. There’s a lip synch issue and I can’t fix it because I can’t see the damn preview.

As Bob asked, what codec does your video files use? That could be the problem.
