    Hello!
I’m a bit embarrassed with this question as I have stumbled on this problem before. I am editing a HD project where I am bringing in video and animation elements. My project setting are 1440×1080 because the video is shot with HDR FX-1. Animation I bring in at 1920×1080. All good.
I have some closeups I have shot DV. They were never intended to be full screen. So I want to bring them in 720X480 so they would fill aprox 1/4 screen. When ever I bring in DV footage It always fill the entire screen top to bottom. If I go into Pan crop is say it is showing 720×480. I don’t really want to crop or zoom what am I missing. As well I have some animations I would like to bring in half screen. I would like to render at 960×1080 so it would fill Half the screen and remain full quality with out vegas having to resize. I know this is simple I just can’t figure it out. I have adjust Media size to match render de selected in project properties. Vegas Pro 12.
    Thanks
    Brad

Don’t blame yourself because this is not intuitive at all but luckily the fix is simple. In Pan/Crop, change the 720×480 to 1920×1080 (you may need to temporarily disable Lock Aspect Ratio). This will place the 720×480 footage in a 1920×1080 frame thus showing it at actual size.
