How can I preview track groups in separate preview windows?
I have been searching for quite a while and I keep finding information on multicamera editing and multiple screen video, but neither really addresses my issue. (as far as I have been able to experiment)
I am editing a video installation project that has 4 separate monitors that will play back 4 separate, but synchronized, video files. The files will each be hosted on their own media player and will be synchronized via local network (It is similar to a 4 screen video wall, except the monitors are not arranged in a grid due to the nature of the display)This is all working fine and is not the issue.
The problem I am having is that I am editing the footage for each of the 4 monitors in Vegas Pro 12 and it would be really helpful to be able to edit all 4 sets of footage in one Vegas project, but have a preview window for each of the monitors I am working on. This way would be much easier to see how each of the monitors’ footage is relating to the rest of them.
In descending order, here is what I would love to be able to do:
Ideal: Create 4 groups in Vegas. Each group would contain all the footage for one of the monitors in the final project. I would then like to map each vegas group to a different external monitor (assume that I have the capability to run 4 external monitors). This way I could add multiple tracks to the group and basically treat each group as a separate project, but keep them aligned so I could play them all back at once to see how it’s coming together.
Good: Create 4 groups in Vegas. One for each monitor. Have a single external preview monitor window that shows 4 windows representing each of the individual groups. (similar to above, but grouped in one external monitor vs separate external monitors.
I hope I explained my issue clearly. If you have any other suggestions or ideas on how I could accomplish either of the above scenarios, I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks! And sorry for the tl;dr
