I want to learn a slow motion effect
I am shooting with a Panasonic GH1 camera I am told it is very good for video.
I want to create a slow motion effect. Must I shoot with specific settings in the camera or can it be accomplished in VP9. If it is done in the software can you give me a step by step?Thanks

Both. You want to use a high frame rate and high shutter speed when shooting for slow motion. Unfortunately that camera’s max frame rate is 30fps so it’s not ideal for slow motion. You can still use a high shutter speed, you will just need a lot of light to compensate. If not, your slow motion will look more blurry because of the motion blur of a slower shutter speed.
In Vegas Pro 9.0 you just hold the Ctrl key while dragging the right edge of the video event. That’s it! The further you drag, the slower the motion gets. There are also plug-ins like Twixtor and Boris FX BCC Optical Flow that will get even smoother slow motion than is possible with just Vegas Pro alone.
You can also open the properties of an event and change it’s Playback Rate if there is a very specific playback rate that you are trying to achieve.
