I am working on a blu-ray disc in DVD Architect and want to do 5.1 surround. I edited an mpeg2 file in sony vegas and a seperate ac3 file for my 5.1. When I import it into dvd architect, it plays fine in the preview but when I go to author the actual disc, it says my ac3 stream needs recompressed and is not compliant with the disc. I’ve tried changing audio formats but I get this error each time and when it does recompress, the disc never plays audio. I looked all over for a solution but I can’t find one. I even tried going back to DVDA 5.2 but I still have the exact same problem.

Are you using the Dolby Digital AC-3 Pro template 5.1 Surround DVD? This will not have to be recompressed in DVD Architect. I just checked and it works fine.

I first did a test render and it worked. I just used the 5.1 dvd pro format. Then I tried to do the exact same thing with the original file that wasn’t working and it still won’t be recognized. What I have noticed is that the only ac3 file that has worked is one that was saved as something different. I’ve been saving over the same file repeatedly and dvd architect seems to bring in the original render each time I bring that file in no matter how many times I’ve saved/rendered over it. So I’m going to try to save it with a different name and see if it works.

That seemed to do the trick. As long as I re-named it when I rendered it with the 5.1 dvd pro format, it worked. For whatever reason, dvd architect wouldn’t recognize when a file had been saved over and never updated when it was brought into dvd architect.

This has happened to me a few times with stereo output. The tip off is that the render completes much too quickly. I have fixed it by either moving or deleting the original file. Vegas will then render a new one. I’ve never tried to figure out why it happens.

If you have DVD Architect open when you render the file in Vegas Pro this won’t work. You need to close DVD Architect so that it releases the file handle so that Vegas Pro can write to it again.
