Sony Vegas 12 will not open
Posted by Allan Joles on December 13, 2012 at 8:06 pmI just purchased Sony Vegas Pro 12 ($99. special) The install went smoothly, it left SVP 11 on the drive as well. After installing the serial# it began to load, then crashed at “loading directX …” Went back to open VP 11 it crashes at the same place! Anybody else have this problem? Any Solutions?

December 13, 2012 at 9:28 pmSorry, its because your system is way too underpowered
and week to run the great Vegas 12…lol, just kidding.Sometimes having both Vegas 11 and 12 installed together
causes various issues, as version 11 was a troublesome built.
So uninstall, clean and delete every trace, folder and file
from your system pertaining to Vegas 11. Then restart your PC,
and do a fresh install of Vegas Pro 12. Try that first
and let me know how it goes.Steve Rhoden

December 13, 2012 at 9:55 pmThanks Steve. I did uninstall 11, and re-install 12 but there was no change. I wonder if I am going to have to go registry editing… I hate doing that.

December 13, 2012 at 10:37 pmok, if its crashing at loading DirectX, that means it is
conflicting with a particular Directx Plugin/filter.
Hoping you have backups, try uninstalling any Directx plug
you may know you have on your system, including any
Directx related Audio plugin.Steve Rhoden

December 14, 2012 at 2:48 pmSteve:
Thanks again for your help. It seems the New Blue FX plugins from version 11 were the problem. It seems to me that Sony (or Madison) should have written a few lines of code in the installer for VP12 to clear any remnants of Vegas 11 before installing VP 12. Anyway for anyone else who encounters this issue, you will need to manually uninstall old New Blue FX filters. -
