  • Unable to install DVD Architect 5.2

Hi folks, I’ve been using DVD Architect 4 for a while and wanted to upgrade to 5.2, I downloaded the trial to see if it was worth buying it or sticking with 4. However, when I click on the installer exe, the warning screen appears as usual asking if I’m sure I want to install, I click ‘run’ and then nothing happens. The installer pre loader icon appears on my taskbar as usual but it doesn’t do anything. I can’t close it either, I have to go into the task manager to end the process. There is also a strange little box that appears on the bottom right hand side of the screen with an ‘S’ on it that also doesn’t appear to do anything.
The installer for DVD Architect 4 seems to open fine. It’s quite frustrating, so any help would be lovely.
    Cheers,
    John

Try restarting your computer before you install it.
And Version 6 is out now, why dont you try and get
    a copy of that.

Thanks for your reply. I tried restarting but that didn’t work, and I downloaded version 6 but that is doing the same thing, which is a bit disconcerting.
Its not as if the installer preloader has stopped working or is not responding because the task manager states that the program is running but other than being on the taskbar and that strange little box it’s doing nothing.
Thanks for your input, much appreciated 🙂

Tell you what, completely uninstall Architect 4 and delete
all folders in the system files and in my documents that pertain
to DVD Architect, Restart the computer and when you are ready
to install Architect 6, right click on it and select
run as administrator (which is to install as administrator).
This most likely will work now.

Hi, well I did everything you said and still no luck. I even downloaded a couple of other trial programs from Sony to see if it was a problem with all the software. Acid Pro and Spectra layer seemed to be fine, but the Vegas pro suite and Sound Forge would not open.
I’m going to do a full virus scan and see if any programs are stopping it, if I have no luck I’ll stick with version 4.
Below is a screen capture of the small box that appears if that helps, but otherwise thanks for your efforts, I really appreciate it.

An update on the problem. I solved it simply by going offline and turning off my anti-virus and firewall. Not sure which one it was but I now have DVD Architect 6.
    Thanks 🙂
