  • Frame/pixel interpolation between 2 scenes

Ok, I am facing a very unique (I think) problem. I shot a 1 minute footage for a short film. Unfortunately, I miscalculated the duration of that scene (and its a real pain to reshoot it). The scene ought to be about 2-3 minutes in length.

However, the one saving grace (I think) is that the footage consists of just a man walking up and down. So I cut the footage into 2 pieces (each consisting of a 2 and fro movement) and tried repeating one of these on the timeline to create the illusion of one continuous scene. But there is always a jerky motion perceptible to the eye in between the repeating sequences.

To cut a long story short – is there a way of interpolating pixels between 2 scenes in sony vegas (similar to what happens in slow motion) – so that I can try and create an illusion of a continuous scene? Or are there better ways of doing it (not considering the option of retaking the scene – as that requires setting up a lot of things).

I hope I haven’t made my question too confusing.

Thanks a lot! This forum is just amazing – hoping to get a solution to this problem!

Right where you split it and there is the jerk, try overlapping
it a small bit and see how it looks.
Or right where it joins, put a cutaway shot above it (of a beautiful
flower swaying in the wind etc…lol
) then come back to the scene.

    Hey steve,
Thanks for the reply. I did try overlapping the 2 scenes (where there is a jerk) – and I get a cross fade blur.

The thing is I want to bring that blur (due to cross fade) to a minimum without causing a jerk. I read that slow-mos can be made less blurry with interpolation/blending etc. So just wanted to know if that option is available here as well.

    Thanks a ton!
