  Avid IMX and IMX 50

  I have to deliver broadcast files in one of these two formats. I have Vegas Pro 12. How to do it?

  1) Wrapper/Container: QuickTime

  Video
  Format: IMX 50 (mx5p)
  Bit rate mode: Constant
  Bit rate: 50.0 Mbps
  Width: 720 pixels
  Height: 576 pixels
  Frame rate: 25 fps
  Scan type: Interlaced
  Field order: Top Field First

  Audio
  Format: PCM
  Channels: 2 channels
  Sampling rate: 48.0 kHz
  Bit depth: 16 bits

  2) Wrapper/Container: QuickTime

  Video
  Format: Avid IMX (AVmp)
  Bit rate mode: Constant
  Bit rate: 50.0 Mbps
  Width: 720 pixels
  Height: 576 pixels
  Frame rate: 25 fps
  Scan type: Interlaced
  Field order: Top Field First
  Audio
  Format: PCM
  Channels: 2 channels
  Sampling rate: 48.0 kHz
  Bit depth: 16 bits

  From what I see, these codecs come only with Avid NLE. Hmm.. Is there any way not to buy Avid and use them? I am not Avid user.

  Unfortunately, Avid IMX are licensed codecs that aren’t available in the free LE package.

  Vegas Pro can render IMX 50 using Sony MXF and the PAL MPEG IMX 50 template. Ask if they can accept an MXF wrapper instead of QuickTime. Otherwise, you can’t create that format without owning Avid to get the codec.
