With the latest VP12 release, MainConcept MP4’s will no longer convert to self contained .mov/H.264. Movie inspector shows that it’s only reading a tiny data file now. (700kb from a 10MB MP4.)

I have been using this workflow for years to deliver HD for commercial broadcast. (Because that’s what they want 😉

I have done numerous experiments. Workflow still sound in VP10 and VP11.

What once worked is now broken. I can work around but what a pain. Very frustrating.

Just curious, are your versions of Sony Vegas Pro 10 and 11 64bit or 32bit? It is has been reported on this forum that the latest QuickTime has problems with Sony, but I never heard where it would work with one version vs the other. Hence my question to see if it might be related to the codecs used (32bit vs 64bit).

Also as Mark asks, 32bit or 64bit?

Sorry for the late reply. I use 64 bit versions. I should mention too that this workflow was working with the original Vegas 12 Pro release.

I wonder if it was related to this change:

    2.0 What’s New
    Notable fixes/changes in version 12.0 (Build 394)
    File IO

Fixed a crash importing variable frame rate H.264 MP4 clips from After Effects (CS6).

You should open a ticket to Sony.

    Hi Mark,

Hard to say. I did open a ticket with Sony, and posted on the Sony forum. Haven’t heard from them. Thanks.

    Same here.

The first version of Vegas worked fine for the most part… and now it doesn’t.

I submitted a ticket with Sony last week, but nothing heard back.
