NEX VG20 AVCHD file rendering
Hello all!
I’m relatively new to HD videos and editing. A user of Vegas Pro 11.
My camcorder is Sony NEX VG20, and I’ve used FH recording mode (average bitrate is 17Mbps) 1920x1080i is the source file resolution.
When I open a new project in Vegas, I set up 1920×1080 as the project resolution, and import the source files (.mt2s files from the camcorder), and edit some audio from separate recorders (done in DAW software, Cubase, Reaper, 48kHz/24bit rendered to WAV files). When I render the project to video file, I choose the option for Sony AVC format (.mt2s again), then sample bit rate as 16Mbps, which is shown in the bitrate window, but not in the pull down menu. (These are in the rendering options to change the preset template.)
The result is, (here’s my problem) the first 90 seconds are good, but then the video image stutters, and garbled. A few minutes later, the video is completely stand still, but audio is going on. The playback is windows media player, but VLC does the same thing, or actually more garbled (video going faster, stop, faster, etc).
I tried 15Mbs bit rate (which is in the pull down menu), and it improves a little bit, but the same thing still happens after 4-5 minutes time point. Then, I lowered the bitrat to 10Mbps, now video goes perfect till the end (my files are usually around 30min).
So, my question is, if the source file is 17Mbps bitrate, why can’t I render at the same bitrate, and why I have to go down the bitrate to 10Mbs? Are there anything I’m doing wrong?
I’m going to try FX mode (24Mbs) recording, and try higher bitrate, but FX is really taking up my flash drive, so I need to buy a few more SDXC cards.
Thanks for your comments and suggestions!!
