Just a pity that no one wants to help when there is a problem with sony v pro.

Karen this what I do:
1) Video in PAL format
2) I bring in that footage from a CF Card reader as an MXF file
3) I then edit in VegasPro matching the Vegas Project to the footage
4) When I finish the complete edit I then produce/render 2 files to the SAME folder, these:
a) – An MPEG2 Video file called: MyFile.mpg
b) – An AC3 Audio file called: MyFile.ac3
Of course you will NAME the file anything you want, but both mpg and ac3 files have to have the same “name”
5) I open DVDA and navigate to the render files folder and bring in the newly rendered files.
6) I set the DVDA project to PAL 16:9 interlace and work on the project.
7) I complete the DVDA project and finish by burning to a RW-DVD, I do this to an RW to check for errors or needing changes. Once happy I commit to a DVD.

I recorded onto tape with a sony z5e camera. what should be the first steps to do.( I know the recording steps but the settings for the project and the cutting to dvd settings?)

I don’t record to HD tape so somebody else will need to reply.
As I said, my point 3), I match my project to the footage and edit away.
My MPEG2 are normally 7.8 Max bitrate with an average bitrate of 4.2. This gives me very good DVDs with at least 120 minutes play time.

understand that but had to post 3 times before someone could help. I sit with a big dilemma I paid a lot for sony vegas pro 12 and i cant even watch the final product. So a little help will be appreciated. As you know time is money. I am struggling for a week with no one be able to help. This is pathetic.

Like I said, this forum is supported/contributed to by volunteers who all paid the same for the product, just like you did, and we all have livelihoods and deadlines to meet. No point insulting those who support this forum. That’s the fastest way to end up being ignored, and we don’t want that, do we?
Graham’s advice is actually quite helpful given the very limited information you provided. Your particular question has been answered quite a few times, so you might want to consider using the search feature in future. Given that you have not yet noticed the search tool on the forum, use this as a guide. For project properties, use:
HDV 1080-50i (1440×1080, 25.000 fps)
Deinterlace Method = Blend Fields
Select Adjust Source Media to better match project or render settingsWhen it comes to rendering, select Render As, then choose MainConcept Mpeg-2, and from the template list, choose DVD Architect PAL Video Stream.
Select Customise Template then go to the Audio Tab and tick include audio streamIf you do not understand most of this, I would strongly suggest you consider reading the manual and/or watch these extremely helpful and FREE tutorials:

I assume you know how to capture from HDV tape, hence I skipped that step.

Thank you for your help. I guess i am just so frustrated because of all the struggles. I have been searching and searching for tutorials i am busy watching a webinar on making dvds in DVDA but the guy jumped right to making a dvd in DVDA so the render as settings are very vague to me.
How ever I will do the steps as explained by you. My main problem is cutting to dvd and the settings. ( i can cut to dvd but the player does not read the DVD) Because the Sony z5e uses tapes we have recorded onto tape. This is hd footage but the final edited product will be put on a normal DVD 16:9.

If you are rendering from Vegas and then importing into DVDA to create a DVD, and that is not being read in your DVD player, it would suggest that your discs are being burned at too high a speed.
I use Nero to burn my discs and never burn at speeds over 8x. I recently tried 16x and my DVD’s were unplayable in most players. I burn to DVD-R media.
In DVDA, you also need to select the PAL 16:9 template to begin with. I think both Vegas and DVDA default to NTSC upon first install for project properties, so you will need to change/check that.
This forum has tutorials, but they assume basic knowledge, and tend to cater for American audiences i.e. use NTSC settings, which does not help if you are delivering in PAL:
