  • My Sony Vegas Movie Studio Version 10 keeps crashing

Posted by Stephen Sealy on September 17, 2012 at 1:40 pm

I’ve been using it actively on my current project for about 6 weeks. Up until a week and a half ago it never crashed. Now, particularly when I try to undo a function, the ‘egg-timer’ (well, equivalent) icon shows and it stays on this icon. When I press something else the screen brightens and I have to end the task. It happens very frequently as is very frustrating. It also often happens halfway through rendering.

I was wondering if adjusting the performance of the programme may help. Can you suggest what other alternatives may be causing this very frequent and very very annoying problem?

    Thanks a million in advance!

Try reinstalling it. Have you recently installed anything
    new on it?

Well I upgraded from Sony Vegas 9 and from what I recall I downloaded the upgrade. I can’t seem to find the Setup application in my Sony Vegas folder. I was looking for it as presumably I’ll need it to reinstall Sony V egas HD 10 after I uninstall it. I know its a bit of a basic question, but that is right isn’t it? I wanted to avoid uninstalling until I know I can reinstall without encountering more problems

Uninstalling, then deleting all the Sony Vegas folders
in the program directory, then Reinstall it, is often the
    best option.

Okay. My question, and sorry if its a bit basic, is, don’t I need the setup application (which doesn’t appear to be in my folders ) to reinstall? I assumed that because I upgraded online from Sony Vegas 9 it may not have been needed as it would have been if I had bought version 10 without upgrading. Is this right?

You can download all the full product installers from the Sony site: https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/updates

You’ll need your serial number etc to activate the software after installation.

I’ve checked that link but there’s nothing for the Vegas platinum HD version 10 there
