On Vegas 11 (and the others as well, I assume) How do you omit the left or right track’s sound completely? By using the pan icon I can bring it down but it is still there. I would like to keep the music cue and loose the dialogue track at the end, but still have the dialogue track for most of the cut. I know about changing the audio volume via the envelop and creating insert points to bring the volume up or down but nothing to eliminate the left or right track for one portion of the cut.

    Thanks

If you want to keep both tracks (always a good idea, just in case), duplicate the track.
On the first track, right click the first audio event, select “Channels – Left Only”.
On the other track, select “Channels – Right Only”.
If you have multiple events on one track to change, copy the first audio event, select the rest of them and then do a “Paste Event Attributes”.

When you’re #2, you always try harder 🙂
It helps that I do this a lot, especially when I shoot stage plays (house audio feed on ch.1 and on-camera shotgun on ch. 2)

You do the best you can with the gear you have 🙂
Before Pro 10 came along, I used to use a “stereo split” script that Edward Troxel came up with.
