    You can do both, but pan while taking a video shot of the painting
    would give a better result…..Or if using a still, it has to be
    high resolution.

    You can do the same thing with Pan/Crop and a high resolution image. Use Smooth keyframes so that the start and end are not abrupt but are smoother like a real camera pan would be.

    Indeed, as John mentioned, always adjust the keyframes
    when doing panning.
